Microneedling

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy and has been widely used in aesthetic medicine for a number of years.

Microneedling is a controlled procedure designed to accelerate skin rejuvenation.

A controlled process of wounding to the skin to activate fibroblast activity creating new collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin production from the fibroblast cells. This process can be stimulated for up to 2 years after microneedling.

The aim is to create trauma to the skin without damaging the tissue. The treatment should involve no pain and has a fast recovery. Each tiny wound created by the microneedling device goes though 3 stages of the healing process.

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling creates tiny micro channels on the skin allowing active ingredients to penetrate the skin and provide cells with nutrients.

The transepidermal delivery of actives penetrate the deep skin layers immersing their effect.

The micro injury to the keratinocytes promotes increased cell turn over in the extra cellular matrix.

The micro channels allow maximum transepidermal delivery of the active ingredients.

Activate fibroblast activity creating new collagen

Trauma induced collagen - The natural wounding of the skin although too tiny to see results in collagen stimulation and growth. Each tiny wound goes through three classic phases of wound healing.

Treating skin conditions with Microneedling

Fine lines, uneven skin tone, texture and pigmentation
Acne ice pick scaring
Sun damage and collagen degradation
Acne, oily, comedone - Not suitable for active acne as infection can spread Improve the appearance of skin tone and texture

Pigmentation - Freckles, Melasma, liver spots and lentigos
Anti ageing and skin rejuvenation
Regulate over active sebaceous glands accelerate sluggish cell turnover Menopausal skin may be sensitive and dehydrated

Vampire Facial/PRP

A vampire facial/PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) a cosmetic treatment that involves using either a micro needling device to create tiny punctures in the skin or injected. The platelet-rich plasma is then applied onto the skin to enhance collagen and elastin production, promote cell turnover, and accelerate healing. The PRP is extracted from the client's own blood, which is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma, it's then massaged or injected into the skin.

Benefits of PRP/Vampire facials:

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

  • Improves overall skin texture

  • Improves acne scarring

  • Helps with hair growth

  • Improves firmness and tightens the skin

  • Increases skin hydration

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a great professional treatment for a number of skin concerns. From advanced ageing to acne and hyperpigmentation. Our glycolic peel and lactic peel are suitable for different skin concerns and skin types but work in the same way.
They remove the top layer of the skin the (epidermis) by chemical exfoliation.

The epidermis is a layer of dead skin cells on the skins surface. The chemical exfoliation encourages cell turnover and renewal improving the skins health, texture and appearance.

Peels are classified in different ways ranking in their strength and absorption rate:

Very superficial peels - home care products that don't penetrate and light peels 20% which penetrate the stratum corneum.

Superficial peels - these peels exfoliate the skin at aesthetics level to the epidermal layer of the stratum corner, which can be up to 40%.

Medium depth peels - performed at advance practitioner/nurse or doctor level and have a concentration of 70% acid. These peels reach the upper layers of the dermis.

Deep peels - performed only by doctors and under a sedative, these can reach the papillary level of the reticular dermis.

What makes a peel effective?

The effectiveness of a chemical peel depends on a number of factors to take into account. Healthy skin is less likely to have a reaction to the chemical peel. The application of the chemical peel by the practitioner is important. Cracked or
dehydrated skin can make the acids penetrate further this could cause burning or a stinging sensation. Preparing the skin before a chemical peel is important as it aids the penetration of the acids by double cleansing the skin and removing oil before the proce- dure. This also helps the acids penetrate the skin evenly.

Benefits of skin peels

Chemical peels are a light non abrasive exfoliation type with no downtime and no actual peeling of the skin. Skin peel is a term used for the procedure but scientifically superficial skin peels won’t “peel” the skin.

Treating skin conditions with chemical peels

Chemical peels can help with fine lines, uneven skin tone, texture and pigmentation. They also offer anti microbial benefits to the skin.
